Elementium - US Barthilas

1. Tell us a bit about yourself. (ie. Previous MMO experiences, IRL hobbies, etc.)

   I'm currently in Pandorum - Alliance (Khaz'goroth), which is a guild founded by two friends and myself for the purpose of progression as well as fun. Problem is, we've been having patchy attendance and we are facing pretty much the same issue as most of the 10M guilds on the server - you either recruit more and face problems with fitting people in or you don't recruit and get affected when people get drawn away by RL issues. Another of my friends is leaving and I'm thinking maybe this might be it for our guild.
   
   Prior to Pandorum, I had been on a hiatus and the last time I actively raided with a top-end guild was with Stasis on Horde in the early Wrath days (Naxx era).

   GMT+8 - Hong Kong

3. How would you prefer us to address you? (Special nickname or preference)

   Joel or Ash is fine :)

4. Why apply for Elementium?

   I know a couple of people in the guild IRL but not sure if they have left :) Jamie and Eugene, not sure if they still play WoW. But would be nice to raid with old friends as well as experience end-game content.

5. Do you know how to use VENT? Do you have issues with speaking on VENT during raids?

   No. I have vent and an active mic.

6. How do you think you could contribute most to Elementium raidwise? (ie. What are your strengths?)

   I used to be always pulling the highest DPS in Stasis (Top 3 guild in Horde on Khaz'goroth) and I adapt and react to situations quickly (don't stand in shit etc etc).

    

   I will show up to every raid with flasks and food and will always be ready to give my best based on the fact that I've read up on bosses.

    

   I am also a very mature person and won't QQ over loot and trivial matters.

7. How do you think you may hinder Elementium? (ie. What are your weaknesses in raids?)

   My work may require me to miss 1 raid a month or so but I hope that won't be a big issue.

8. How is your main specced? Provide a short explanation as to why you chose to spec this way.

   Destruction - This is my main spec and I've enjoyed it since the BC days when SB nuking was king. Of course that's not possible now but I still find that somehow I give consistently higher DPS on this spec than affliction (though I know theoretically aff should give higher DPS now). High burst damage, coupled with excellent mana regeneration due to mana feed means I have to tap less and reduce GCD usage. Primarily used on fights which require little movement.

   Affliction - I play this as offspec and I'm still trying to master it to the best I can. It's a very versatile spec which gives room for more maneuvrability than destruction does (you don't need to hard cast 2+ second SoulFire in your rotation) and in 359 gear most of your casts go off in a second or so. It's definitely one I would want to try but I'd still go with destro in the fights that matter.

9. What professions have you picked up and what level are they? Provide a short explanation why you've chosen these professions, and how they contribute raid wise

   Tailoring - For the lightweave cloak embroidery (best DPS enchant for caster), also allows me to craft craftables in early-patch days which might put me ahead of other raiders.

   Enchanting - Enchant my rings for +40 int FTW.

   Both of these are slated best DPS buffs for a caster class (thought some might debate Engineering)

10. What glyphs have you chosen for your main spec, and why?

    Conflagarate - Reduces the cooldown of the spell and allows me to better fit it into the whole destruction rotation

    Immolate - Increase the damage of one of my main spells? Why not!

    Imp - My imp normally takes about 15-20% of my DPS in raids, so to buff him is to buff my DPS

    Fear - For CC duties if needed

    Life tap - Reduce GCD on a spell locks use constantly? Why not!

    Caanalus / Human / DK / 85

    Geared for raids

12. How often do you play your "off-spec"? (Note: "off-spec" also translates to the spec that you are not applying for but might be required to play. This includes the "more subtle" definitions of "off-spec. For eg. Combat Rogue requested to play Muti, Frost DK requested to play Blood, Fire Mage requested to play Frost, etc, etc.)

    I interchange between affliction and destruction quite alot, depending on fight mechanics.

16. Does your current guild contribute to the reason to why you are applying for Elementium? If so, in what way?

    Poor raid attendances, and a general lack of ability to form a raid - so yes, it does contribute.

    I took a break before joining Pandorum. Was in Stasis in early Wrath.

    Weekdays: 7pm - 12am (GMT+8)

    Weekends: Sundays all day

    Weekdays: 1am GMT+8 latest

21. Are you familiar with Elementium Raid Times, and can safely say that you can last the entire duration of our raids on most occasions?

    Yes.

    10/12 Normal

24. Have you had any previous (pre-TBC, TBC, WOTLK) end-game raid experiences?

    BC - cleared till Sunwell Felmyst

    Wrath - Cleared Naxx, Maly and 3D

25. What is your role in those raids? (ie. raid leader? MT healer? Top DPSer?)

    DPSer mostly, but required to manage the ranged DPS groups

    Currently a Co-GM in Pandorum

27. If you are lacking in some PvE experience, how are you going to plan to catch up?

    Read the fights, watch the videos, talk to people who've done it - then finally, experience it.

29. Do you have any near-future intention of serious Arena competition? If so, do you think that will affect your raiding schedule with us?

    No

30. Any addition informational that you would like to share with us?

    I want to progress and I want to see end-game bosses and I believe myself and Elementium are a good fit.
